Architecture is among the most important things to consider in a new hotel project. Here are five things that construction companies should factor in as they determine which architecture firms to partner with. 

1. Demonstrates a reputable portfolio of work. Despite the industry, construction companies should ask for, and carefully consider, an architect’s portfolio of work. For hotel projects, architectural vendors should be able to show examples of similar hotel and/or hospitality work. This demonstrates not only their design approach but ensures they have worked through the nuances of hotel design. 

2. A great partner. Architects must work closely with their partners, such as engineers, project managers, and product vendors. So when considering an architecture firm for hotel projects, look beyond the architects themselves. Ask the architecture firms targeted questions about how they coordinate with others, and perhaps request referrals from past partnerships. 

3. An experienced team. New hotel construction projects are not simple builds. Diverse teams offer varying perspectives, which ensures the team is equipped to design a hotel that best serves the intended customers as well as the local community. 

5. A team that understands and respects locality. No matter where you’re building a new hotel, it’s imperative that the building design complements its surroundings and appeases locals. Ask the architecture firms you’re considering how they factor in the local history, culture, and landscape when designing. When reviewing their portfolio, consider the location of each project and how they integrate with the environment around them.
